EuniqYou.com - Exclusive Handmade Jewellery

One day, I received an email from my customer asking me how I keep all my jewellery. And I was stumped cause I am always changing my organisation style and always try to make it work for me!

Still, I gladly offered my 2 cents worth and was thankfully gratified back from her. So I thought maybe you might have this information useful as well.

1. An Awesome Christmas Present (from bro) - Jewellery Hanger!

He had gotten it from Anthropology, unfortunately, the shop has closed down in March this year. I have sourced it online and found a site selling it! Check it out at here or a similar one here.

2. Mustafa is Your BFF

Search for these sort of mini drawers @ Mustafa. The one I have has 25 drawers (!!) and the best thing is, there are slots inside the drawers where you can partition it further to keep not 1 but 2 to 3 rings/bracelets/necklaces in one drawer.

Simple calculation brings you to up to 75 pieces of jewellery in that handy and neat box. Whats the best deal? Its only $9.90 each!

3. Daiso is Your Friendly (Pocket) Neighbour

Well, you might not have the exact same one but close enough! For $2, you keep your life so much more organised. And you will have no excuse for always wearing the same necklace just because the others are being kept away in a box because it is transparent!

Very compact and you can hang it anywhere from your room door to the toilet. If you travel often, simply roll it up, secure with a ribbon and off you go!

If you are telling yourself, WOW! I'd like to do that this weekend, but at the back of your mind you are thinking of giving up cause all the necklaces are tangled up and would probably take you days to sort them out.. I have a solution for you.

For the tangled necklaces/bracelets, you can use powder to detange them easily. It is also best advised to keep your pieces individually to prevent it from tarnishing and of course avoid all form of chemical reactions from soap, perfume etc.

To have those little trinkets shine again, apply small amount of toothpaste on it and small amount of water to wash it off. Alternatively, I have learned that this old school vintage face powder that your granny uses works like a charm too!

Do you have some tips too? Please feel free to share! Like I said, I love to keep "upgrading" my jewellery organisation skills. hehe. xx

 . . Tip #9:
How much is too much when it comes to accessorising?

For jewellery, divide your pieces into three categories according to body parts - ears, neck and arm. In general, bling on two of areas is enough.

The bigger and more head-turning a piece is, the smaller the other piece should be. So don't wear big hoop earrings with a chunky necklace.

When other accessories come into play, don't overcrowd one area of your body. For example, if you wear a scarf on your head, don't pair it with large earrings. A pair of ear studs, a stack of chunky bangles and a belt will work well with a scarf as you are spreading your accessories around.

So, I was surfing for hair styles, and I came across this picture. Woot, this is similar to the fascinator I designed months ago.

While fashion jewellery is also commonly called costume jewellery , both terms that make the jewellery sound worthless, taking nice care of it is an absolute must. Six of the most important things you ought to recall aboutfashion jewellery is that unlike fine jewelry that is made of precious metal & stone, it will tarnish & fade & can look unsightly if not cared for well. Fine jewellery can be restored to its original state by polishing & buffing. You will have no such luck with your fashion jewellery.

Cleaning agents
Cleaning agents that are used for fine jewellery can also be used to tidy fashion jewellery. However it is important to check the ingredients of the cleaner before using it on a piece of jewellery. Products that have acid, alcohol, ammonia & vinegar are an absolute no no as these can corrode & destroy your jewellery beyond your imagination.

Homemade cleansers – Soap vs. Toothpaste
While a lot of people believe that a mild soap & water is nice to tidy your fashion jewellery, studies show that this can do more harm than nice. Soap leaves residue on the jewelry thus making it look dull & unattractive. Toothpaste on the other hand has come out famed. It’s proven to be cost & cleaning effective.

However, it is important to make sure that the toothpaste does not contain any abrasive substances in it.

Using soft buff cloths
Pieces of buff cloth are effective in cleaning jewellery that is dirty & dusty. These pieces can be bought at a local jewellery store. Fashion jewelry, bracelets, necklaces & chains have a tendency to lose their shine with repeated wear. Immerse your jewellery in some cleanser & then wipe it tidy with a piece of soft dry buff cloth & watch the shine return.

While cleaning your fashion jewellery is an important chore how you select to store it is equally important. Never ever make the mistake of putting all your fashion jewellery into six bag or six compartment of a jewelry box. This could be fatal. It is important to recall that while jewellery is stored it tends to rub against six another, thus causing scratches, removing plating etc. Fashion jewellery must be categorized & stored so that pieces do not get entangled & entwined & destroy each other. Always keep the newer jewellery separated from the older ones.

Maintaining order & storing your fashion jewellery
Equally important is making sure that the box used to store your fashion jewellery is moisture & dust free. Make sure that no dust & moisture can get in to the jewelry box. Equally important is to make sure that all the pieces of jewellery are absolutely dry before they are put in. Moisture can tarnish the metal. If you use your fashion jewellery on a every day basis it would be advisable to tidy it five times a week & if you use is occasionally then tidy it right after you use it.

Euniqyou uses non-tarnish brass wires, 14k gold plated chains & parts, semi-precious stones  and Swarovski pearls & gems for her jewellery.
